Fragmentation in Italian Oncological Pediatric Care

Manual data generation is time-consuming, labour-intensive, and impractical

Manually making data for tests poses big challenges. It’s often time-consuming and labor-intensive. Using real consumer data to test increases the risk of data breaches. It's often impractical to generate so much data with the variety needed.

1. Disconnected Collaboration

Pediatric teams were relying on outdated methods—emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings—to coordinate care, resulting in missed insights and fragmented communication.

2. Risk of Data Breaches

Patient data was dispersed across departments, often inaccessible when it mattered most. Doctors struggled to build a full picture of a patient’s history in one place.

3. No Shared Platform

There was no centralized, real-time digital system enabling doctors and caregivers to align on treatment plans, share updates, or make timely, informed decisions.

"INFANT transformed how I coordinate with specialists and caregivers.

It gave me one place to see the patient story unfold every log, every board, every update so I can focus more on care, less on chasing information."

Multidisciplinary Boards (MDB)

A centralized feature that allows physicians to set up and manage case-specific boards involving multiple specialists. MDBs are essential for collaborative diagnosis and treatment planning. Doctors can schedule sessions, add G.O.M. notes, set a virtual meeting link, and track contributors. Boards include dedicated tabs for patient records, shared files, visual collaboration, and management tools. This enables continuity, transparency, and shared accountability throughout the care process.

Interactive Board

The Interactive Board provides physicians with a visual canvas to describe complex medical information using real-time drawing tools. Integrated with Excalidraw, it supports freehand sketches, arrows, shapes, and editable text. Physicians can use it during board sessions to explain cases visually and collaboratively. Changes are saved, synced, and accessible to all invited collaborators, enhancing cross-specialty communication.

Patients Directory

This module offers a comprehensive interface for patient management. Doctors can register new patients, edit profiles, assign or invite caregivers, and apply filters for diagnosis, gender, or CVC risk. With sortable columns and dynamic search, the directory supports fast access to patient data. The linkage between patient records and caregiver accounts is central to continuity of care, especially for long-term pediatric treatment.

Threads & Communication

A secure, in-platform chat system allows clinicians to collaborate in real-time. Channels include private messages, general team chat, and dedicated rooms for each board. Each thread supports file sharing, searchable history, and notifications. This replaces the need for external tools, ensuring data is kept within a compliant and protected environment.

Medical Records & Diagnosis Timeline

Vital information submitted by caregivers is visualized here in a medical-grade layout. Doctors can navigate daily logs by calendar, review visual charts for temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and more. Each chart supports preset or custom date filters, helping doctors analyze health trends. Logs are exportable in PDF format with structured formatting for compliance and audit needs.

Doctors can document and revise patient diagnoses, with options to set clinical and verification statuses. Each diagnosis is tracked by the author, with a visual timeline displaying updates in chronological order. This module fosters clarity in case history, role-based collaboration, and trust between institutions. Patients’ diagnostic history can be reviewed through cards that include notes, metadata, and timestamps.

Did you know that...

50% of our yearly clients discover that hiring us, with our experience in 20+ industries, is better than hiring a company focused only on one industry

Our journey has led us to make 50+ web SaaS platforms and mobile apps.

Adaptability, across industries, is our specialty.
We've worked in fintech, insurtech, e-commerce, entertainment, neuroscience, construction, real estate, and more.

Our experiences are as varied as they are deep.
Each project enriched our team, individuals who bring with them a wealth of knowledge.

We've tackled 3 or 4 industries each, building software for millions of users.

We only need a few directives from a client-appointed project coordinator or a product owner.

Then, we meet industry-specific challenges and deliver solutions beyond expectations.
A prime example is our venture into the neuroscience industry. At first, our client considered training neuroscientists in Python and React.js.

The client soon realized the efficiency of entrusting us with the project. Our team delved into neuroscience, with some members even studying MIT publications.
We grasped concepts like spike-sorting, data curation, and problem-specific predictive AI modelling.

This dedication enabled us to design a user friendly experience and interface. It lets neuroscientists work swiftly and intelligently.

Turns out, it's not rocket science after all... it's just neuroscience!

Caregiver App Home

The home screen of the caregiver mobile app is the central hub for all key interactions. Designed for simplicity and emotional comfort, it greets the caregiver with personalized elements and quick access to patient records. Key sections include a calendar showing the current week, cards for each assigned patient, and quick actions for submitting logs, accessing notifications, or navigating to resources.

The interface is designed to reduce cognitive load, offer clear guidance, and support families who may not be tech-savvy but require precision and speed when entering health-related data. The Diary module displays a personalized dashboard with patient cards. Each card features a patient photo, birthdate, and their recent logs. The weekly calendar view highlights days with activity. Caregivers can tap a date to view logs, edit drafts, or add new entries. The diary is optimized for families managing multiple patients, with swipe navigation and clear UX.

Daily Log Submission

The log submission flow is a two-step form with high usability standards. It allows caregivers to record patient vitals, physical and emotional status, and symptoms in a structured format. Input fields support images, emojis, and typed notes. Logs are saved and presented to doctors in visual charts. This ongoing caregiver feedback loop offers doctors a better view of the patient’s day-to-day condition between appointments.

Medical Hub Map

This location-based feature empowers caregivers to locate the nearest pediatric care center. Users can search hubs by region or service, filter results (e.g., palliative care, intensive care), and view hub cards. Each card includes name, hours, contact info, and shareable location. The map uses GPS positioning and includes a "save" feature for frequent visits.

Community

The Community screen is a dedicated space where caregivers can discover helpful resources, connect with trusted networks, and share personal insights. Divided into three clear sections Pinboard, Saved Posts, and My Posts this feature supports active participation and passive exploration. Caregivers can post useful links, bookmark content, and manage their own contributions. With integrated filters, search, and platform recognition, Community becomes a moderated and empowering environment that respects privacy while promoting engagement across the INFANT network.

Development of Infant

To meet the multifaceted demands of INFANT, Lasting Dynamics employed a modern, scalable stack built for performance, modularity, and compliance. The backend was architected with NestJS and TypeScript, enabling modular microservices that aligned well with healthcare’s evolving needs. Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL offered robust data modeling and integrity.

On the frontend, the team used React for the doctor-facing Web App and React Native for the Mobile App, both in TypeScript for consistency and safety. Integrating tools like Excalidraw, Chart.js, and PDFKit required deep technical orchestration to maintain performance across environments.
